UN Association of Sweden (UNA-S)

Current projects (youth oriented)

  • The young ambassadors for Agenda 2030 and our campaigns: About 25 young members go through training to spread knowledge and create engagement for Agenda 2030 in their own local communities. Some of them focus on our projects Skolmat (School meal) and Flicka (Girl child).
  • Youth representatives training: Through support and education we encourage our local associations to appoint a special youth representative. About 40 per cent of our local associations have a special youth representative, and their mission is to give voice to and activate youth on UN matters in their communities. Once a year we host regional workshops for all youth representatives, for them to learn more and network with each other.
  • Annual Youth Conference (UNg): The annual youth conference gathers about 70 youth members and students from UNA Sweden partner schools and local chapters to discuss and learn more about sustainable development, human rights and peace & security.
  • World Matters: This is a project aiming on improving knowledge about the situation in the world, such as poverty, equality and health. Studies show that Swedish citizens lack knowledge about the progress in the world and that they have very negative estimations of the situation in the world. The project has several components, including a website: www.varldskoll.se and a free smart phone app (also in English!) for Apple and Android.

  • UNA Sweden has a long history of engaging youth members in our campaigns and previous MDGs projects (now Agenda 2030).
  • Good connections with other NGOs both nationally and globally.
  • Skilled personnel and a well-functioning office that support our over 6000 members with training and up-to-date materials.

Would like to network on (youth oriented)

  • Specialized training opportunities for UNA youth members
  • Global Model UN collaboration
  • International collaboration for our overseas project; such as international interns
