The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) is a global nonprofit organization representing and coordinating a membership of over 100 national United Nations Associations.

Prior to beginning the 40th WFUNA Plenary Assembly, the WFUNA Secretariat held capacity-building sessions for all participants on everything from organizational matters to fundraising and online communications. There were also informational exchange sessions for UNAs, as well as regional meetings and Executive Committee meetings.

After holding a successful Symposium to commemorate the life of Dag Hammarskjold in Venezuela, WFUNA Secretary-General Bonian Golmohammadi and R2P Program Officer Laura Spano visited Colombia to see the wonderful work UNA-Colombia has been developing.

Human Rights Council 19th Session, side event “The Human Rights Council for Newcomers” at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.

WFUNA held its 202nd Executive Committee meeting, hosted by the Indian Federation of United Nations Associations (IFUNA), in New Delhi, India, on 3-5 November 2011, with 13 UNAs of the Executive Committee represented from Australia, China, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cuba, Finland, India, the Republic of Korea, Norway, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and Venezuela.

WFUNA held its European UNAs Meeting in Geneva with several UNAs, including Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, France, Finland, Hungary, Israel, Luxembourg, Norway, Russia, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Read more here.

UNA-SA is a non-governmental organization whose objective is to support the principles, goals and programmes of the United Nations (UN) and its agencies. There are UNA-SA chapters across the country, working (in partnership with other organizations) to promote peace and harmony, as well as economic, social and cultural progress in South Africa.

Motivated by the desire to ensure we live up to our promise of “never again,”  WFUNA developed a 3-year program to support R2P.We empower civil society with tools for holding governments accountable in the face of mass atrocity; increase knowledge and awareness of R2P, expand media coverage and the political debate surrounding R2P issues and provide effective methods for information dissemination and advocacy.
