On Wednesday, Oct 10th 2018, WFUNA welcomed the current UN Youth Delegates for their annual meet-and-greet in the WFUNA office.

The UN Youth Delegate Programme (UNYDP) is coordinated by the UN Focal Point on Youth under the Department of Economic and Social Affairs and forms one key opportunity for the inclusion of youth in the representation and decision-making procedures of member states.

Agents of Change celebrated their achievements at the Closing Ceremony in Singapore.

SINGAPORE, 17 September 2018 – The Closing Ceremony of WFUNA’s Mission Possible Programme Cycle in Singapore was held on 12 September 2018 at Nexus International School. It convened students from Hwa Chong International School, Nexus International School and Tanglin Trust School. Students presented the projects developed as part of the program curriculum and shared the knowledge and experiences gathered over the last year. There were a total of nine presentations.

The 8th edition of Human Rights in Action will take place at the end of the month, bringing representatives from 18 countries to Geneva for a week of project management training with the goal of returning to their countries to implement their projects throughout the course of the year. In advance of this year's training, WFUNA has partnered with the Office of the High Commissioner on Human Rights and the International Organization for Migration.

On 8 August 2018, the President of the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly, H.E. Miroslav Lajčák, joined New York City youth, in Harlem, for an informal discussion. The conversation explored how the United Nations can better engage with youth and how youth can get more involved with the UN. Implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals will not be possible without the involvement and leadership of young people.

An informal meeting was organized on July 13, 2018 between WFUNA and various UNAs attending the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF). UNA representatives from Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Dominican Republic and Finland were present at the meeting. The meeting served as an opportunity to inform of initiatives UNAs and WFUNA are undertaking to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Different opportunities and challenges were brought up in this meeting and UNAs also offered their potential aims for the coming years.

On July 2, 2018, the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) convened the thirteenth in a series of Civil Society Dialogues with the President of the United Nations Security Council at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The dialogue featured H.E. Mr. Olof B. Skoog, Permanent Representative of Sweden to the UN and President of the UN Security Council for the month of July. Mr. Bonian Golmohammadi, WFUNA’s Secretary-General, moderated the discussion that brought together over 20 UN-focused civil society representatives.

The Urban Innovation Challenge: Citypreneurs is a young SDGs start-up competition in Seoul for prospective entrepreneurs from around the world interested in solving urban issues in Seoul and achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
