NEW YORK - From 9 – 11 August, WFUNA’s Youth Seminar on the MDGs for youth representatives of United Nations Associations (UNAs) took place in New York. In this seminar, WFUNA hosted 11 members from nine United Nations Associations. The participants in the seminar were members from the following UNAs: Brazil, Malaysia, Mexico, Republic of Korea, Suriname, Tanzania, United Kingdom, United States, and Nepal.

The three day seminar focused on building practical skillsets in project management, fundraising, and capacity building. Throughout the seminar, participants were able to learn from best practices and draft new ideas on possible projects related to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Working in groups, participants worked to build an actual project and presented the final presentation on the last day of the seminar.

"I had a great experience at the WFUNA’s Seminar on MDGs. I was inspired by the one-on-one sessions with the many respected figures at the UN, and gained concrete knowledge on implementing a project from start to finish, including my kryptonite: funding a project. Most importantly, the 11 UNA participants from across the globe were able to encourage and learn from each other. The idea-exchange and relationships formed within our group are invaluable, and I look forward to working with them in the future."

“The seminar was highly insightful; it provided me with practical techniques. The knowledge gained and experiences shared was a huge help for current and upcoming plans that I have for project management and fundraising for my organization in order to sustain our operations and to bring much needed resources. On a personal note, it was such a pleasure to meet and interact with other participants from different countries across the world. Thanks you WFUNA for the opportunity.
