In honour of the 70th anniversary of the United Nations, landmarks around the world were illuminated in UN Blue to “help raise awareness about the work of the UN, to unite citizens around the world, and to highlight the relationship between peoples of the Member States where the landmarks are located to the Organization.”

The UN Department of Information (DPI) invited WFUNA and United Nations Associations around the world to participate, and many UNAs rose to the occasion.

Images of the illuminated landmarks were widespread on Twitter with the hashtag #UNBlue. A collection of the participating buildings can be seen here.
