Kathryn White

The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) is a global nonprofit organization representing and coordinating a membership of over 100 national United Nations Associations.

Kate has successfully led UNA-Canada since 2004, meeting its important national mandate to education and engage Canadians in the work of the UN and to grow global citizens, with twenty-five staff, twenty volunteer Branches and 25 000 members and donors across the country. UNA-Canada is a results-based, disciplined and historic civil society institution that has grown significantly under her watch.

Previously, Ms. White was President of Black & White Inc. an international consultancy specializing in policy research, development and citizen engagement. Her successes include: mobilizing civil society, in north and south Cyprus - the catalyst for the Annan Accord; publishing on the role of protest in building democracy from research on protesters to the G8 Summit and on the Mitchell review of the Good Friday Peace Agreement in Northern Ireland; contributing subject matter expertise to senior training for military leaders.

She has advocated successful for gender equity in ICTs, human rights, the environment and civil engagement. Under her leadership, the Sustainable Development Goals are the firm base on which UNA-Canada grounds all of its programmes. Her work through her UNA has a results-based focus on adapting policy questions into viable solutions. Kate comments frequently in the media on UN matters.

Kate White currently proudly serves as Vice-Chair of WFUNA’s Executive Committee, representing global civil society.
