About Freedom from Violence

The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) is a global nonprofit organization representing and coordinating a membership of over 100 national United Nations Associations.

Freedom from Violence aims to build the capacity of key stakeholders to engage in dialogue on the post-2015 development agenda and to advocate, provide strategic policy options and influence decision makers to include peace, security and conflict prevention in the agenda.

WFUNA is working with six UNAs in violent and conflict-affected areas around the world to train their hardworking staff and volunteers on how to raise awareness and advocate for the inclusion of peace, security and conflict prevention in the post-2015 development agenda.

The dynamic training is based on a set of six toolkits, which cover:

  • What is the Post-2015 Development Agenda? How can we integrate peace and security?
  • Ways of increasing awareness and advocating by working with Civil Society, Academia, Media and Politicians
  • Creating an advocacy strategy and effective communication plan
