Objectives

  • To promote and support the United Nations message through the engagement of the Venezuelan youth community in the participation of activities inside and outside Venezuela.
  • To collaborate along with diverse Venezuelan NGOs in the development of social projects related to the Millennium Development Goals.
  • To disseminate information related to the UN work through different social media in order to open forum discussions and debates

Structure

UNAV-Youth works as a program linked to UNA-Venezuela. It is organized with an equal rate of responsibility and compromise by the General Coordinator, the Secretary General, the Fundraising Coordinator, the Activities Coordinator, The Inter-Institutional Relations Coordinator, the Finance Coordinator and temporal volunteers.

Past Projects

  • 2012  Participation as the Venezuela’s youth representative in the World Youth Congress in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil from June 4th to 13th. 
  • 2012  Dag Hammarskjöld Symposium in Caracas, Venezuela. Promoted by WFUNA and UNA-Venezuela. Participation through the gathering of different UNAs Youth members from abroad.
  • 2012  Institute of Leadership of the Americas-Chile. Leadership Study Program in Santiago promoted by the University of The Andes and the Fund for American Studies. Participation of two UNAV-Youth members next to 10 more Venezuelan youth representatives.
  • 2011 “Vanguardia Iberoamericana”. Participation of one UNAV-Youth member in Paraguay representing Venezuela. In “Vanguardia Iberoamericana” a document containing recommendations on Governance, Education and Employment, Health and Environment, and Mass and Social Media was drafted and handed out to the Chiefs of State of Iberoamerica.
  • 2011  WFUNA’s Youth Seminar Series, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Participation of three UNA-Youth members.
  • 2010  World Youth Conference Mexico. Participation of one UNAV-Youth member in Mexico representing Venezuela. At the WYC, UNAV-Youth participated in the coordination and logistics on the NGO Forum
  • 2010   “Stand Up, Take Action” Campaign. Diverse informative activities carried out to promote this UN campaign in Venezuela.
  • 2010  Conference on “The Influence of War in Literature”. Several University professors discussing and talking about the influence of war in literature. Information about JANUV and the UN was handed out.
  • 2010  “White Peace Party”. Fundraising activity to cover expenses of UNAV-Youth promotion campaigns.
  • 2010  Culture for Haiti: An afternoon of concerts. A ticket to enter the concert was given in exchange for food and medicine
