Each year on October 24, we commemorate the day in 1945 when the orginal UN General Assembly ratified the UN Charter. Today, United Nations Day is celebrated around the world by the UN's 193 member nations and their many UNAs.
2011 marks the 66th birthday of the United Nations. To kick off UN Week, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon issued the following statement:
