So, You Want To Be The Next High Commissioner?

Do you firmly believe that all human beings were born equal? Are you committed to assisting the international community in ensuring that human rights are respected for all peoples, everywhere, at all times? If you answered yes to both of these questions then we have just the program for you. WFUNA’s Human Rights Youth Training will provide you with key knowledge and skills to start making a difference for human rights in your community.

The training, held in June at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, will empower young individuals to take a leading role in upholding human rights in their communities and around the world. Participants develop a deeper understanding of international human rights and key practical skills in project development and implementation.

The four-day training is divided into two components: education and project development. During the education component, participants will learn about available human rights instruments and implementation mechanisms, how the international community develops human rights standards, and what is being done to ensure implementation worldwide.

Throughout the training, participants will have the opportunity to interact with key actors in the human rights field. The project development component of the training will focus on teaching practical skills in the development and implementation of human rights education activities. All participants will learn to create basic education and awareness raising activities and projects on human
rights issues.

To apply, you must be between 18-25 years old, have a good knowledge of international institutions, be highly committed to human rights, driven, creative, and well-organized. United Nations Associations young leaders, staff and/or volunteers are strongly encouraged to apply!

Please fill out the application form and send it to roberts@wfuna.org together with your CV, motivation letter and a 1500 words essay about a human rights issue in your community that you deeply care about.
