The "International Conference of the Americas- CILA 2008" , held from 15-19 October 2008 will be a meeting point for more than 1,500 young people from the Dominican Republic, Latin America and other regions of the world to work together in an environment of diplomacy and cooperation in search for solutions to the challenges that the international community faces today. For this occasion, CILA will also be venue of the Regional Youth Forum of the UNESCO, the first seminar-workshop for journalists about the United Nations and Global Issues and the Second Reunion between the United Nations Associations (UNAs) and the United Nations Information Centers (UNICs). Furthermore, CILA 2008 will summon 12 discussion committees which will simulate the different organs and commissions of the United Nations and other regional and international multilateral institutions. In addition, CILA will offer seminars, conferences and lectures, workshops and exhibitions with topics directly related to the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

UNA-DR participates in the UN Economic and Social Council’s Forum for the NGOs.
Sto. Dgo, D.R. May 1st, 2008.- Pilar Sandoval, Executive Director of the UNA-DR, represented the Association in the UN Economic and Social Council’s forum that was celebrated on April 4th, 2008 at the UN New York City venue. The title for the forum was, “The role of the Civil Society in promotion of sustainable development and the New Global Architecture of International Aid.” The forum was very successful; all the NGOs shared programs that are being implemented by them that promote sustainable development. Ms. Sandoval presented “El Proyecto de los Jardines de Corales” (Coral Gardens) that is being sponsored by FUNGLODE/GFDD and exposed examples of how this initiative is contributing towards sustainable development in the Dominican Republic.

- Professorate Participates in a Video Conference, Defending Human Rights.
Sto. Dgo, D.R. May 7th , 2008.- Professors of 4 education institutions of the Dominican Republic, were invited by the UNA-DR and the UN Education Council to participate in the video conference “United Nations Teacher Conference on Human Rights (UNTCH08).” The video conference was celebrated on May 1st and 2nd.

- UNA-DR participates in "Espacio USA: Vanguardia Latina 2008"
Sto. Dgo, D.R. May 2nd , 2008.- The UNA-DR participated in the event “Espacio USA: Vanguardia Latina 2008,” that was celebrated in Washington D.C., United States, from April 29th to may 2nd of the current year. Under the motto of "América: un continente en movimiento (America- a continent in movement)," more than 120 youths from Latin America and Europe currently residing in the United States worked together to discuss topics of greatly international relevance. Furthermore, Pilar Sandoval, Executive Director of UNA-DR was invited to another edition of this program that was celebrated at Mexico on the last week of May.

- UNA-DR participates in Three Dot Dash™
Sto. Dgo, D.R. March 31st, 2008.- The UNA-DR promotes the work and dedication of Dominican youths by inciting them to participate in programs such as Three Dot Dash. Three Dot Dash was sponsored by the “We Are Family Foundation” and was celebrated in New York from May 30th to April 4th 2008. The Three Dot Dash program has the main aim of supporting young leaders from all around the world, by recognizing their effort in providing humanity with the basic needs of health, food, education, and security.
