 Global Model UN Updates
The UN Department of Public Information, in partnership with WFUNA, is organizing the first annual Global Model UN (GMUN) conference at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, from 5 – 7 August 2009. Held for the first time under UN auspices, the theme for this University-level Model UN conference will be “The Millennium Developments Goals -- Lifting the bottom billion out of poverty”.

GMUN organizers have just issued an open call for individual applications. You can find the application form on the website. The deadline has been extended to 20 May 2009.
18-25 July
The second edition of the Sofia International Model United Nations conference will take place in Bulgaria from 18th to 25th July, 2009. For more details go to: www.sofimun.org
2-6 August
The UNYSA-Austria (United Nations Youth and Student Association of Austria) and the Academic Forum for Foreign Affairs will hold the Vienna International Model United Nations (VIMUN) with students and young graduates from all education levels from 18 to 35 years. 10-14 August 2009
The fourth Eastern Africa Regional Model UN (EARMUN) will be hosted in Kampala by the UNA-Uganda, UNA-Tanzania and UNA-Kenya.
26-29 October
UNA-Colombia is arranging the first Colombian Model UN conference will take place in Colombia’s capital Bogota between the 26th – 29th of October. The official languages of the COLMUN will be English and Spanish. For more details go to: www.colmun.org
11-13 September
The Vellore Institute of Technology in Tamil Nadu, India is arranging the Model UN summit during their annual international knowledge festival. www.vit.ac.in
12-15 November
The Stockholm Model UN is a cooperation between students from Stockholm University and Stockholm School of Economics. www.smun.se
29 November – 3 December
The Nigerian International Model UN conference will take place in Nigerias capital Abuja from November 29th to December 3rd. The theme for this MUN will be human trafficking and the smuggling of migrants. http://www.nigmuns.org/
