Globalis
Globalis MapGlobalis is an interactive world atlas, developed by UNA-Norway, where you decide what is to be displayed on the map. Globalis aims to create an understanding for similarities and differences in human societies, as well as how we influence life on the planet. This is primarily done using visual means. At Globalis you will find statistics from the Human Development Report 2003, which is the first global status report discussing how the countries of the world compare in reaching the UN Millennium Development Goals. For each goal you can choose between several indicators, which show the countries' positions. You can also display temporal changes to see which countries are going through a positive or negative development in relation to the millennium goals. It is a particularly useful tool for multidisciplinary projects, and can be used as a source of reference when working with particular subjects. Take me here >>

HIV/AIDS

Youth and the HIV/AIDS Crisis - A toolkit by UNA-Canada
UN AIDSUNA-Canada in realizing their Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS has released this report as a first step in a wider programme of work on youth and the global HIV/AIDS crisis. This tool-kit for action has two components. In the first one you will hear from a sample of youth and youth workers (based in Ottawa) on what prevention, education, and awareness strategies have reached them, what they think about these strategies, and their own ideas for effective youth-centred HIV/AIDS actions for their communities. Part Two looks at a range of for- and by-youth public education initiatives from Kenya, the US, South Africa, Bangladesh, and Canada. Hoping that the ideas from parts one and two will inspire you to also take action on the global HIV/AIDS crisis, included at the end of the report are pointers on what kinds of strategies and programmes have worked best over the past 20 years of HIV/AIDS practice.

It came out in the year of 1998 among other activities to point out the 50th anniversary of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The book contains basic data about the most significant human rights bodies and organisations. There are links for searching for more information. In addition there are exercises linking up with the issues of each chapter. These can be used for human rights education for example at schools. This book -Our Common Human Rights- aims at clarifying the origin and background of human rights, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights itself and the key human rights. This book presents the structures and organisations that prepare, agree upon and monitor human rights both on an international and a European level. Learn more >>
