Friends and Enemies of the United Nations
Ambassador William vanden Heuvel, Vice-Chair of WFUNA's Executive Committee delivered a two-part lecture series on the enemies and friends of the United Nations within the United States. The first lecture, The United Nations and Its Enemies, was delivered as part of the Arthur Ross Lecture Series at the Foreign Policy Association on October 30. He identified the UN's main enemies within the United States as the disinformation campaigns carried out by a well-funded powerful group of ideological radicals determined to undermine the UN. In his follow-up lecture, The United Nations and its Friends: What if the United States Wanted the United Nations to be Successful, Ambassador vanden Heuvel explores "what an American government led by someone with the vision and pragmatic discipline of F. D. Roosevelt would do today if its purpose was to lead the U.N. in creating a better world."
