PRESIDENT
Ambassador Park, Soo Gil, prior to his election as President of WFUNA at the 39th Plenary Assembly in August 2009, served as the Republic of Korea’s Ambassador in the Kingdom of Morocco, Canada, to the European Office of the United Nations in Geneva and the UN in New York, from 1984 to 1998.
At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, in which he served from 1963 to 1998, Mr. Park has held such positions as Director-General of Treaty Affairs, Deputy Minister for Political Affairs, and Chancellor, the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security.
Mr. Park also served as a member of the Sub-commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights, an affiliate body of the former Commission on Human Rights from 1999 to 2003. He is currently teaching at the Graduate School of International Studies, Korea University as a distinguished professor on the subject of international organization and the United Nations.
Mr. Park graduated in 1959 from the Korea University College of Law, and obtained a MIA degree in 1971 from the school of International Affairs and Public Administration, Columbia University. Mr. Park is married with two sons and one daughter.
HONORARY PRESIDENTS
Hans Blix was born in 1928 in Uppsala, Sweden. He studied at the University of Uppsala; Columbia University, where he was also a research graduate; and at Cambridge University, where he received his Ph.D. In 1959, he became Doctor of Laws at the Stockholm University, and, in 1960, was appointed Associate Professor in International Law.
From 1963 to 1976, Dr. Blix served as Adviser on International Law in the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1976, he became Under-Secretary of State, in charge of international development cooperation. He was appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs in October 1978. He served as Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency for four terms, from 1981 till 1997. Dr. Blix was appointed Executive Chairman of the United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) for Iraq by the UN Secretary-General in January 2000. He took up his duties on 1 March 2000 and left the post at the end of June 2003, with the expiry of his third contract. As of January 2004 Dr. Blix chaired the independent international Weapons of Mass Destruction Commission (WMDC). Its report "Weapons of Terror, Freeing the World of Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Arms" was presented to the public on 1 June 2006. Dr. Blix served as President of WFUNA from 2006-2009 and is now an Honorary President.
Rhyl Jansen, a New Zealand lawyer, has been a member of the WFUNA Executive Committee since 2000 and was President of UNA-New Zealand from 1996-2000. Her interests include human rights, the family, the role of women and humanitarian causes. Lady Jansen is a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit, a Justice of the Peace and a holder of the New Zealand Commemorative Medal. Lady Jansen was the President of WFUNA from 2003-2006 and is now an Honorary President.
Horace Perera is a dedicated supporter of the United Nations - promoting education and human rights for over 40 years. Horace is particularly interested in teaching about the United Nations. A member of the UNA-Sri Lanka, he began his longstanding involvement with WFUNA in 1961 as the Director of Education. In this post Horace restructured WFUNA's seminars on Teaching about the UN and co-organized a Summer School event for university students in Geneva. He then became Secretary-General of WFUNA, introducing regional conferences and promoting cooperation between UNAs from Eastern and Western Europe in the 1970s. In 1976, Horace joined the World Conference of Organizations of the Teaching Profession, where he published a widely distributed study guide on the "Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women".
Horace Perera is now an Honorary President of WFUNA and is still very active as a Consultant on Constitutional issues and in the field of human rights. In June, WFUNA honored Horace by unveiling his portrait at a ceremony in its Geneva office. At its recent meeting in March, the WFUNA Executive Committee recommended Horace Perera for the Comenius medal. This award, which bears the name of the 17th century Czech humanist Jan Amos Comenius, was created in 1992 by the government of the Czech Republic and UNESCO. Awarded every two years, its winners come from all over the world.

Gregory M. Kovrizhenko is the Deputy Chairman of the UNA of Russia. He has been a Member of the UNA since 1972. At University, he specialized in international relations and worked essentially for NGOs. Particular interests include: youth activities, Model UN conferences and youth contests.
VICE PRESIDENTS
Beate Wagner studied political science and philosophy in Marburg and Berlin. She received her Ph.D. in political science from Free University in Berlin in 1994. She served as an Assistant at the Department for Federal and European Affairs under the Berlin State Government from 1992-1995. Dr. Wagner was the Director of Programme at the binational (German-US) Rias Berlin Commission from 1995-2002. She has been the Secretary General of the United Nations Association in Germany since 2002 and has been an active member of the coordinating body of the national network of human rights NGOs (Forum Menschenrechte) since 2003.

Ervin GÖMBÖS has been the Secretary-General of the United Nations Association of Hungary since 1981. He had various positions in the World Federation of United Nations Associations (Vice-President 1983-87, 1991-95, member of the Executive Committee 1987-91, 1995-). He is a professor at the International Business School in Budapest. Earlier he worked for the United Nations Statistical Office in New York for five years. Author of two books and co-author or editor of many others. Published some 50 studies on informatics, economics and international relations.

Dambar Bir Thapa received his Bachelors Degree in Law and Masters Degree in english and political science from Tribhuvan University. He has been the Secretary General of the United Nations Association in Nepal since 1968. He is presently the president of the National Federation of NGOs for the Millenium Development Goals Promotion in Nepal. Mr. Thapa has been an active member of the International Association of Educators for World Peace and the National Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centres and Associations in Nepal.
Professor Harold Herman has been the Secretary General of the United Nations Association in South Africa since 2005. He received his Ph.D. in education from University of the Western Cape in 1980. He served as the University's Dean of Faculty of Education for several years and as Head of the Department of Comparative Education from 1978-2000. Professor Herman was the co-founder and President of the South African Comparative and History of Education Society (SACHES) from 1991-1995. He served as Vice-President and is currently an active member of the Executive Committee on the World Council of Comparative Education Societies (WCCES).

Mr. Rashad Daureeawo born in Mauritius in 1949 and has pursued Primary and Secondary Education in Mauritius. He proceeded to London where he studied Law at Middle Temple and was called to the Bar in England in 1970. He was associated with United Nations Association (Mauritius) since 25 years and is currently the President. He is also member of Law Reform Commission and Bar Council. He has keen interest in Human Right and humanitarian causes.
