A simple introduction to sustainable development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for primary and secondary school students. The film is produced by Animaskin on behalf of UN Association of Norway and UNICEF Norway. 

Instructions for use: UNA Norway and UNICEF Norway have made this film available for UNAs to share with their networks online or in a training capacity. UNAs and other organizations may not insert their logo or alter the film in any way. The film can be accessed online via YouTube. In collaboration with the Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies and its Future of the UN Development System project, Making Change Happen: Enhancing the UN’s Contribution to Development, by Stephen Browne and Thomas G. Weiss, is WFUNA's latest publication (October 2012). The findings in this study are based on two global perception surveys that consulted the wider UN community on their views on the UN development system.

    One World United States offers an e-group and forum for young people to discuss pertinent social issues.
  • Reform the UN
    There is a Yahoo.com E-Group in conjunction with the Reform the UN group that has over 800 members who post regularly on the group webpage.
  • WomenAct
    WomenAct is the listserv maintained by the NGO Committee on the Status of Women in New York. The Committee works to facilitate international networking among NGOs that support the Beijing Platform for Action and are affiliated with the United Nations and/or its specialized agencies.

  • Center for Defense Information
    Since 1972, the Center for Defense Information (CDI) has provided expert analysis on various components of U.S. national security, international security and defense policy. CDI promotes wide-ranging discussion and debate on security issues such as nuclear weapons, space security, missile defense, small arms and military transformation. The website offers seven newsletters ranging from columns by contributing writers, to defense security updates and other publications.
  • Center for Global Development
    The Center for Global Development offers four email services and two blogs with syndicated content. The news primarily consists of major trends and new ideas in rich country development policy according to the website.
  • Center for UN Reform Education
    The Center for U.N. Reform Education is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit policy research organization. The organization was founded in 1978, and aims to help facilitate reform and restructuring at the UN. The website offers e-alerts and emails on developments they monitor and upcoming events.
  • The Century Foundation
    The Century Foundation conducts public policy research and analyses of economic, social, and foreign policy issues, including inequality, retirement security, election reform, media studies, homeland security, and international affairs. The Century Foundation is nonprofit and nonpartisan and was founded in 1919 by Edward A. Filene.
  • E-Civicus
    Civicus, a world alliance for citizen participation publishes a weekly newsletter promoting civic existence, expression and engagement.
  • Council on Foreign Relations
    Formed in 1921, the Council on Foreign Relations works to provide independent, nonpartisan scholarly work on relevant issues in foreign affairs. The site offers daily, and weekly newsletters on international news as well as newsletters for educators and other topics such as foreign affairs and geoeconomics.
  • FCNL-Nuclear Calendar
    The Friends Committee on National Legislations publishes a Nuclear Calendar every Monday US Congress is in session dealing with relevant nuclear issues.
  • Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES)
    Working as to promote "dialogue on globalization," FES is a German non-profit institution that maintains offices in New York, Berlin, and Geneva and publishes monthly briefing papers, fact sheets, and other reports.
  • Foreign Policy.com
    This website offers free e-alerts, a blog, and two years free of subscription charges when you subscribe to their services on global politics economics and ideas.
  • Global Democracy Newsletter
    The Global Democracy Newsletter is a newly launched publication with an aim to create awareness for the immediate need of Global Action Plan to unleash the "Power of People" for democratic global Governance and bring an era of peace, unity, prosperity and happiness for all in the world.
  • The Globalist
    The Globalist is a website that is concerned primarily with globalization and has daily newsletters and e-briefing services.
  • Global Policy Forum
    Global Policy Forum monitors policy making at the UN and promotes accountability of global decisions, educates and mobilizes for global citizen participation and advoctes on vital issues of international peace and justice. The website offers bi-weekly newsletters.
  • Global Action Youth Network (GYAN) Newsletter
    GYAN is a not-for-profit group established in 1999 that aims to facilitate youth participation and intergenerational partnership in global decision-making; collaborate among diverse youth organizations; and to provide tools, resources, and recognition for positive youth action. Their newsletter is published monthly.
  • Good News Agency
    Published every three weeks, the Good News Agency carries positive and constructive news from all over the world relating to voluntary work, the work of the United Nations, non governmental organizations, and institutions engaged in improving the quality of life - news that doesn't "burn out" in the space of a day.
  • Human Security Centre
    The Human Security Centre is part of the Liu Institute for Global Issues at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada that published the 2005 Human Security Report: War and Peace in the 21st Century. The site also offers many different newsletters and email services: HS News (published weekday mornings), HS Research (monthly online compilation of new human security-related published research), HSC Announcements (publications, press releases and new e-resources), and HS News Weekly.
  • International Crisis Group
    The International Crisis Group (Crisis Group) is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization, with nearly 120 staff members on five continents, working through field-based analysis and high-level advocacy to prevent and resolve deadly conflict. The Crisis Group offers weekly newsletters.
  • Just International
    JUST, an international movement for a just world publishes a monthly newsletter called Just Commentary. Just is dedicated to establish a society, which will seek, in a modest way, to develop global awareness of the injustices within the existing system with the aim of evolving an alternative international order, which will enhance human dignity and social justice. More specifically, their primary goal is to establish a spiritual and intellectual foundation for a just world.

  • Open Democracy
    Open Democracy is a group that looks to promote human rights and democracy through analysis, dialogue and debate.
  • ReformTheUN.org
    Reform the UN has a mission to track developments while ensuring transparency and accountability. The site has an email update service as well as resources on the UN, government, and civil society.
  • UNA-USA
    United States office of the United Nations associations publishes a twice-monthly news letter and offers current UN and international events.
  • UN News Center
    A news service based out of the United Nations website offers email notifications of breaking news about the UN as well as daily briefing services.
  • Voices of Youth
    What Young People are Saying is bi-monthly newsletter from UNICEF that has worked to build knowledge and community between youths since 1995.
  • Women's Edge Coalition
    Founded in 1998, Women's Edge consists of over forty organizations and fifteen thousand individuals committed to the economic empowerment of women and girls worldwide. This group offers a monthly newsletter.
