Report of the Secretary-General – “In Larger Freedom - towards development, security and human rights for all” (2005)- Prior to the 2005 World Summit the Secretary-General presented this report on the implementation of the Millennium Declaration recommending the adoption of R2P.
2005 World Summit Outcome Document –The commitment to R2P at the World Summit is outlined in paragraph 138 – 139 of this document.
Report of the Secretary-General – “Implementing the Responsibility to Protect” (2009) – The report aimed to clarify R2P and outline a number of recommendations to move R2P from theory to practice.
Report of the Secretary-General – “Early Warning, Assessment, and the Responsibility to Protect” (2010) – Presented by SG prior to Informal Interactive Dialogue of the General Assembly held on 9 August 2010, this document outlines a number of institutional weaknesses within the UN system and signaled his intention to address the gaps through a number of means.
Report of the Secretary-General – “The Role of Regional and Sub-regional Arrangements in Implementing the Responsibility to Protect” (2011) – Presented by the Secretary-General prior to the Informal Dialogue of the General Assembly held on 12 July 2011. It outlined and made recommendations on the role of regional and sub-regional organizations in implementing R2P.
