WFUNA's Work in Peace and Security
“Humanity will not enjoy security without development, it will not enjoy development without security and it will not enjoy either without respect for human rights.” - UN World Summit Outcome Document 2005
Under the auspices of the United Nation’s promotion of international peace and security WFUNA contributes to the removal of obstacles to peace, work for justice, security and disarmament, and to promote the development of peaceful co-existence and co-operations among nations.
WFUNA's activities within the peace and security area have a special focus on the Responsibility to Protect, Rule of Law and nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation. Within these focal areas we have two distinct programs:
-
Responsibility to Protect: Mobilizing Public and Political Will
This program aims to empower civil society with a framework for, and tools to hold governments accountable in the face of genocide and mass atrocity, and mobilize public and political will for the Responsibility to Protect (R2P). WFUNA’s R2P Program launched in 2011. Learn more about WFUNA’s R2P Program here.
-
Zero World: Disarmament Program
This program actively raises awareness and advocate on nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation in order to create a safer and more peaceful world for all. Learn more about our new project here.
