KOLKATA - The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) and Education for All, a Kolkata-based NGO, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for strategic partnership to promote and collaborate on WFUNA's training programmes.

NEW YORK - On 18 October 2012, WFUNA attended the ceremony dedicating the Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park, on Roosevelt Island in New York.

The event was opened by Ambassador William J. vanden Heuvel, Chair of the Four Freedoms Park Conservancy Board of Directors. Mr. vanden Heuvel is also President of the Friends of WFUNA.

Secretary General Ban Ki-moon spoke, paying tribute to President Roosevelt and his contribution to the founding of the United Nations.

The Responsibility to Protect: What Next? 

NEW DELHI - On Monday, October 8 WFUNA and the Indian Federation of United Nations Associations (IFUNA) invited civil society members, academics and UN and government officials to a day-long Conference on the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) in New Delhi, India.

WFUNA attended the 2012 Social Good Summit this weekend on September 22nd, 2012 hosted at the 92 Y. The three-day conference was presented by the following: Mashable, United Nations Foundation, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, 92Y, Ericsson, and UNDP. With speakers and participants covering all parts of the world, the global conversation was geared at advancing and utilizing innovative social media approaches to promoting change in the world.

SEOUL - WFUNA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Hope to the Future Association, a nonprofit educational institution in Korea that works with high school students, to launch several sessions of "Training at the UN: Korea," a week-long training initiative for high school students in 2013.

SEOUL - WFUNA's President, Amb. Park Soo Gil, and Secretary-General Bonian Golmohammadi participated in the 2012 Trilateral Presidents Meeting of UNA-ROK, UNA-China, and UNA-Japan, held in Seoul, Korea, on 18-21 September. Hosted by UNA-ROK, this is the third annual Trilateral Presidents meeting, whereby UNA leadership discussed the theme of "International Peace and the Role of the United Nations: Possible Influence of the Common Culture and Tradition on the Activities of the Three Countries at the United Nations."

NEW YORK - From 9 – 11 August, WFUNA’s Youth Seminar on the MDGs for youth representatives of United Nations Associations (UNAs) took place in New York. In this seminar, WFUNA hosted 11 members from nine United Nations Associations. The participants in the seminar were members from the following UNAs: Brazil, Malaysia, Mexico, Republic of Korea, Suriname, Tanzania, United Kingdom, United States, and Nepal.
