On 8-9 April 2013 WFUNA held its first European UNAs Meeting in Vienna, Austria, at the invitation of the United Nations Association of Austria. In collaboration with the United Nations Information Service (UNIS), UNA-Austria organized an extensive program of briefings at the Vienna International Center for representatives of the 16 participating UNAs of Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Norway, and Sweden.

UNA-Finland, UNA-Tanzania and WFUNA just implemented the "Effective Advocacy in UN Processes" workshop in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The workshop, which was held from 11-14 March 2013, was followed by a public seminar titled "Towards a Common Vision for the Post-2015 Development Agenda in Tanzania" held on 15 March 2013.

The 35 participants in the workshop included Civil Society Organizations representatives - including UNA representatives - from Burundi, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania.

The side event was organized by WFUNA, within the framework of the NGO Committee on Human Rights of CoNGO, and was chaired by Irene Martinetti, WFUNA's Director of Programs. The objective of the session was to share concrete advice on how NGOs can engage effectively with the Human Rights Council.

NEW YORK - WFUNA launched "Training at the UN: Korea" and its New York training sessions for student groups with 22 high school students from Korea, during 18-22 February, for a week-long intensive session focusing on the UN system and the Millennium Development Goals.

GENEVA - WFUNA had the pleasure of welcoming 23 outstanding students selected by our university partner, the Research Centre of United Nations and International Organizations (RCUNIO) in Geneva from the 18 to the 22 February. The participants engaged in a busy five day-program focusing on the UN at Geneva, Human Rights, Humanitarian Affairs, Communication Technology, Intellectual Property and Career Development.

STOCKHOLM - A cooperation agreement was signed between the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) and the Global Diversity Certification Foundation (GDCF) last week Friday, 1 February 2013, by their executive officers to collaborate on the engagement of corporations to work with diversity issues.

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND -  The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) implemented the first session of Civil Society in Action for Human Rights (CSAHR) at Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, from 28 January – 1 February, 2013 with 20 participants from all regions of the world representing 13 UNAs.

INDIA - Ms. Gillian Sorensen, Senior Advisor to the UN Foundation and member of the Friends of WFUNA, gave an interactive lecture to the membership of the Indian Federation of United Nations Associations (IFUNA) on the "UN and the 21st Century: Where Do We Go From Here?" on 19 January 2013. The audience included research scholars, students, journalists, and IFUNA general membership.

SOUTH KOREA - WFUNA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Kyunghee University, to launch a two-week camp program in Summer 2013. The camp will invite experienced Model UN and Parliamentary Debate trainers from around the world to teach participants in building a better understanding of the UN system. Students are expected to gain practical skill sets in diplomacy, public speaking, and debate through the completion of this program.
