Ambassador Park Soo Gil, President of WFUNA, hosted a luncheon in honor of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon during his visit to Seoul to participate in the Second Nuclear Security Summit on 26 March.

The dignitaries from economic, social, academic, and political circles in Korea attended the luncheon, which included Mr. Park Kwan Yong, former Speaker of National Assembly; Chairman Yoon Se Young of Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS); Philanthropist and former actor Shin Young Gyun; Chairman Yoon Seok Kum of the Woongjin Group; Chairman Hyun Jae Hyun of the Dongyang Group; Dr. Lee Bae Yong, Chairperson of the Presidential Council on Nation Branding (PCNB); Prof. Huyn Byung Cheol, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea; Dr Lee Kyung Sook, President of the Korea Student Aid Foundation, and the Presidents of Seoul National, Ewha, Korea, Kangnam, and Kyunghee University.

During the luncheon, the participants exchanged views on the achievement of the United Nations in recent years in its efforts towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals by 2015, the democratization progress in Middle East and Africa and the challenges posed by the recent developments in Syria, the role of civil society, and the UN’s academic impact. Ambassador Park introduced the activities of WFUNA to promote the cause of the UN and reiterated its continued support for Secretary-General Ban’s vision for his second term and the priorities articulated in his 5-year Action Agenda.
