Civil Society Dialogue with the President of the UN Security Council for October

On Monday, October 2, 2017, the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) convened the sixth in a series of Civil Society Dialogues with the President of the United Nations Security Council at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The dialogue featured H.E. François Delattre, Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations and President of the UN Security Council for the month of October. Mr. Bonian Golmohammadi, WFUNA’s Secretary-General, moderated the discussion that brought together over 30 UN-focused civil society representatives.

Ambassador Delattre highlighted France's priorities for the month of October which include the situation in Sahel and G5 Sahel force, peacekeeping including the protection of civilian rights and human rights, and the ongoing crisis in the Middle East and Myanmar. He also emphasized the importance of transparency, partnerships, and inclusivity.  Ambassador Delattre then answered questions from CSO representatives on a wide range of topics including youth and civil society involvement at the UN, peacekeeping, Yemen, new text for the UN Security Council resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security, among other issues.
