Emil Elías Chireno Haché is a Dominican Attorney and the current Executive Director of the United Nations Association of the Dominican Republic. Emil was appointed by the President of the board of the United Nations Association of the Dominican Republic and former President of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Leonel Fernández in July 2013.

Emil is a firm believer in the transformative power of Model United Nations Conferences because through them he became a passionate advocate of the United Nations. Since 2002 he has been actively involved in many Model UN Conferences, seminars and workshops organized by the United Nations Association of the Dominican Republic. He worked with a small team to assist in the dramatic expansion and reach of the activities organized by the UNA-DR in both Santo Domingo and New York.

Emil formally joined the UNA-DR in 2005 and since them expanded dramatically the relationship between the UNA-DR and the UN System, under his leadership the UNA-DR was granted a Special Consultative Status before the United Nations Economic and Social Council, the organization assisted in various global campaigns including Seal the Deal, where it mobilized over 2,000 young leaders from Latin America. He has visited, lectured and worked in 12 countries with various international organizations including the International Labor Organization (ILO), the World Bank, the World Health Organization (WHO), the Organization of American States (OAS) and UNESCO.

Emil has been actively involved in the global consultations towards the Post 2015 Agenda; he was an active participant in the Open Working Group of Sustainable Development Goals of the Economic and Social Council, bringing the perspective the Dominican Society to the United Nations through a national consultation. He has also organized many side events at the Annual United Nations/ DPI NGO Conference since 2008.

His áreas of focus include: Sustainable Development, promoting effective action on climate change and the implementation of the 2030 Development Agenda. He holds a master in Diplomacy and International Relations from the School of Diplomacy at Seton Hall University. He is currently a candidate for an LLM in Public Law from the Salamanca University in Spain.
