WFUNA and Education
"To promote research, information and education about the goals of the Charter of the United Nations and the work of the United Nations system." - WFUNA Constitution
WFUNA's main objectives are to educate individuals on the goals of the UN Charter and to encourage support for a stronger and more effective United Nations. We accomplish these goals through a number of educational outreach efforts; from seminars and research papers, to internships and conferences, and training programs for secondary and university school students. We encourage young people to use our organization to play a more active part in shaping the future of their world.
Our programs and projects include the following:
Advanced Training at the UN and Training at the UN
WFUNA is committed to engaging students in the work of the United Nations. Our programs are training experiences that partner with educational insitutions and promote the effective participation of youth in the UN’s work.
Model United Nations
In the past few years, Model United Nations meetings have become an increasingly effective and popular means of educating students about the United Nations and global issues. A Model UN conference is an activity that simulates specific UN organs, committees or conferences such as the General Assembly or Commission on Sustainable Development.
Webinars
WFUNA has launched a three-part series on Sustainable Development in the lead-up to Rio+20 in 2012, as well as a webinar by Prof. Thomas Weiss on "Can We Fix the UN?"
WFUNA Youth Camp: Korea
A new initiative launching for Korean youth this summer, WFUNA has partnered with the College of International Studies at Kyunghee University to host a two week camp on Model UN and international issues.
