Guiding Question

In alignment with the theme of the 42nd Plenary Assembly, how can we engage and mobilize the WFUNA Youth Network towards achieving peaceful, just and inclusive societies?

Context and Objectives

The WFUNA Youth Network is comprised of United Nations Association Youth Sections/Chapters/Wings and United Nations Youth Associations around the world. The WFUNA Global Youth Forum, as the official youth space of the WFUNA Youth Network during the 42nd WFUNA Plenary Assembly, will bring together young people that actively participate in "the biggest international movement working for a stronger and more effective United Nations".

The aim of the Forum is to:

  • Elect the upcoming WFUNA Youth Advisory Council for the 2018-2021 term.

The upcoming WFUNA Youth Advisory Council will be in charge of advising the WFUNA Secretary-General on youth initiatives, foster youth involvement among United Nations Associations and United Nations Youth Associations and work with WFUNA’s mission of developing youth programs that build the capacity of its global membership. Members of our Youth Network will be able to nominate themselves prior to the Global Youth Forum. Elections will take place during the Global Youth Forum. Two youth delegates per continent will be elected.

  • Provide a space to share best practices and networking opportunities for a stronger WFUNA Youth Network.

Youth leaders from our Youth Network will be able to meet and share best practices. The Global Youth Forum will also provide a creative space where youth can engage with like-minded individuals from other UNAs and UNYAs around the world.

  • Build the organizational and individual capacity of the WFUNA Youth Network.

The individual and organizational capacity of our Youth Network varies from member to member around the world. The Global Youth Forum will aim to bridge those gaps by offering workshops and thematic trainings in the areas that are most relevant to the members of our Youth Network.

Who can participate?

The Global Youth Forum is targeted for youth leaders from United Nations Associations Youth Sections/Chapters/Wings and United Nations Youth Associations between 18-29 years of age.
